The list of positive adjectives is long in relation to flowers. We always think about colors, perfumes, delicacy, beauty, perfection of shapes... But not every species is a 'flower that can be smelled'. Some of them are considered harmful to the health of not only pets, but people as well.
Widely used in apartments and shady places, the peace lily, despite its name, falls into the list of perverse ones. All its parts (foliage, flower and root) are toxic. One of the substances present in this flower is calcium oxalate, which can cause skin and eye irritation, burns to mucous membranes, difficulty breathing and even nausea.
Because of this plant, more people seek medical emergencies than you might think. Perhaps the peace lily and other poisonous species are part of your garden. Therefore, investigate whether your flowers are really harmless. In your research, you may be surprised by stories in different populations who, not only in the past but even today, use substances taken from common plants to make, for example, poisoned spears and arrows.
