Tulips were the world's first “florists' flowers” and the reason for an outbreak of “tulip mania” in 17th-century Holland, when absurd amounts of money were exchanged for a single bulb.
A thousand years ago, Turkish gardeners were already famous for growing tulips, which today are considered a typical Dutch flower. However, the tulip has also been cultivated in countries such as Hungary, Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan.
Nowadays, people go to Dutch tulip fields during spring to admire the more than 10,000 hectares covered in these flowers.
But, we must be careful with tulip bulbs. Most can cause depression, tremors, and even heart problems.
So enjoy the flowers, stay away from the bulbs. Unless you want to plant them and cultivate this beautiful flower.
